LostPackets.dev is my hands-on technical journal for Linux systems, networking, self-hosting, and homelab infrastructure.
I use this site to document real projects as I build them: the design choices, the configs, the mistakes, the troubleshooting, and the lessons learned along the way.
Current Build
Currently building: an OPNsense router on a Protectli appliance
I’m replacing my basic home network setup with a more deliberate infrastructure stack: OPNsense routing, DNS, WireGuard remote access, VLAN segmentation, and safer ways to expose self-hosted services.
Also working on:
- Studying for the RHCSA and building a stronger Linux administration portfolio.
- Building out a home server for self-hosted services, lab environments, and local AI experiments.
- Segmenting my home network with VLANs so core infrastructure stays stable when I break something in the lab.
- Writing Ansible playbooks and moving toward infrastructure as code so my setups are repeatable instead of one-off mysteries.

Why This Site Exists
I built this site so I could keep track of what I am doing, document the process clearly, and have a place to publish real projects and notes instead of forgetting everything six months later.
